Minimalism draws upon the principle that design must return to basics, with very little decoration or embellishment. It is an art movement that became popular in the late 60’s and is characterised by an extreme simplicity. This is the style that we can see expressed in the world map mural. Designers and artists alike feel as though a minimalist expression allowed a highlighting of the true essence and purity of the world. This is indeed brought to the surface of this map design, where we see no nations, and frontiers and partitions are lost to the elegant charcoal and cream shades of the artwork.
This mural would look gorgeous in a living room, accentuated by charcoal sofas, gunmetal cushion covers and an ivory carpet.
