Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Christmas is just around the corner. The supermarket aisles are filled with crackers and tinsel, not to mention chocolates shaped like brussel sprouts. Panto season is well underway (oh no it isn’t!) and the children are already writing their letters to Santa.
Meanwhile you’re no doubt hastily writing lists of your own to keep track of wish lists, presents already bought, who’s coming for dinner and special dietary requirements. With four weeks left it may feel as though time is running out, especially when there is so much to keep in mind, so we’ve pulled together a handy list of things you may not have thought of – but might come to wish you had.
Setting the scene
The Christmas tree tends to get a lot of the focus when it comes to decorating the home at this time of year, but there are so many other ways you can add a touch of festive magic to your home.
Stringing sparkly lights around the dining room, or even in the hallway is a great way to add some warmth to spaces that may otherwise get forgotten about. Equally, buying and lighting festive candles with scents such as gingerbread or mulled wine can fill your home instantly with the smell of Christmas and lift even the gloomiest of moods.
Going the extra mile
If you’ve decided to take the plunge and get the gamer in your family a whole new set up for their equipment, then you may want to consider going the extra mile with some decorating. If you have young children and can tolerate an explosion of glitter, you could even keep them occupied by asking them to create something magical.
